The Wine Advocate Nr. 183 vom Juni 2009 “Bertrand's Grenache-Carignan-Syrah 2007 Fitou Ancestrale - tasted assembled from tank (the Syrah having been aged in barriques), and still subject to final adjustments - displays the smoky, toasted nut side of Carignan in the nose, along with blackberry and cassis. With an invigoratingly tart edge to its dark fruits this wine's flattering sleekness of texture nevertheless soothes the palate. It finishes with real grip, vigor, and a suggestion of chalk and graphite suffusion. This polished, sappy, extract-rich powerhouse of a wine will represent a terrific bargain over at least the next 5-7 years.”

The Wine Advocate Nr. 183 vom Juni 2009 “From middle-aged Grenache and Carignan vines in a single, calcareous, high-elevation parcel, the Bertrand-Berge 2006 Fitou Origines performed even better in December than it had when I reviewed it for issue 178, prompting me to once again call readers- attention to an outstanding value. Dark cherry, cassis, rosemary and an ashen, charred meat element in the nose lead to a plush palate of plum and cherry, with bitter pit and tart skin accents, resinous herbal pungency, and wood smoke, accompanied by a depth of savory, iodine, soy, animal, and crustacean elements one would never imagine in a wine of this price. This displays a density, richness, and vivacity that suggest it will still be lovely 2-3 years from now.”
